I had the pleasure this year of meeting Hector Salamanca Arroyo. He is a 21-year-old senior at Drake University. Hector and his family are originally from The Southern State of Puebla, City of Puebla in Mexico. At the age of two and a half, Hector and his family came to the United States. This was in the year of 1997.
Going into this interview, I was very nervous, but I have loved getting to know Hector, and getting to know his life story. Hector was very open with me and is one of the most interesting people I have ever met. The hardships he has gone through from being an immigrant as well as the activism that he now does here in Des Moines are outstanding. I am very excited to share with everyone Hector’s story.
